In the Interior Systems Division at the R&D center in the area of Global Technologies & Standard (GTS) they continue their growth.

Office Location: This will be in the southwest of Germany.

Equivalent Level: It will involve constructive collaboration with the other international colleagues of the GTS organisation.
Main objective: The job holder is the contact partner for their assigned technology area-Painting. New technologies, processes and feasibilities are of paramount importance at the same time to provide the best technology, systems and services.
The Technology domain includes: Painting, surface preparations and activations for the different substrates of painting activities (plastics, wood, aluminium, carbon and metal), Anti-corrosion aspects, Paint products systems in link with the different substrates, Automation and robotics and associated numeric Tools, Pulverisation systems and painting chemistry and their impact on cost and Quality, Environmental consequences of paint activity for equipment design and cost, Explosive Atmosphere (Atex) norms, Usage of quality equipment for paint film Quality confirmation (Levelness, color, gloss, thickness…)
Specific technologies: e.g. Bi-tone IMP (insert moulding pigmentation) and Flocking (fiber transfer after gluing)
Global Technology and Standard (GTS) and as contact partner for painting technology area, the main tasks/mission will be to: Conduct internal and external benchmarks and monitor technological process in order to build the technological roadmap, innovation drive and strategic plan, Capitalize technical knowledge on this technology domain (Painting) through the writing of standards and promote and deploy the technology portfolio of standards from the acquisition phase, to the development phase, to serial life and Transfer technical know-how: develop technology competencies through networks and technical Trainings.
This already begins with participation in supporting consultation with regard to the technical customer contacts in preparation of product definition. It continues with the necessary agreements with the material suppliers and, of course, the ongoing supporting influence in the production sites.
Build the technology roadmap through internal and external benchmark, innovation drive and strategic plan fullfilling: Understand product and process market in collaboration with benchmarking, marketing etc., Evaluate and analyze technology Solutions, Identify Best practices and market needs (customer, competitors and raw material suppliers), Be aware of the key patents for the Technology, Identify and analyze key gaps between the technology domain portfolio and the market needs. Contribute to reduce these gaps through the actions plans of the technology Roadmap, Identify and develop technology breakthrough, Validate the robustness of the innovations (product & process performance), Contribute to the technology Review, Create and maintain standards including lessons learned and capitalization, Create standards for the company technology portfolio and according to technology roadmap in collaboration with other departments, Improve standards based on feedback from plant & Project, Promote and deploy the technology portfolio of standards from the acquisition to serial life as well as support in the promotion and application of the company standards towards the OEMs
Develop the technology competencies through networks and technical Trainings: Identify new technical training needs and create and update training courses with the referent trainer(s), Train the people through Technology Academy courses, Develop internal and external technology networks through: participation to technical exhibitions and forums, development of the relationships with OEM, supplier counterparts and company Experts and Specialists.
Age: There are no fixed requirements, ultimately experience will be the deciding factor
Travel readiness: Flexibility for frequent business travel (between 20-30%)
Education: The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree. However, the expertise that the applicant will bring with them will be the deciding factor.
Professional experience: Technological knowledge of painting and adjoining technologies effects on this technology (product, tooling and equipment, process, materials), Minimum 5 years of experience on painting, Surface preparations and activations for the different substrates of the painting activities (plastics, wood, aluminium, carbon and metal) with anti-corrosion aspects, Knowledge about paint products systems/ pulverisation systems/ paint chemistry in link with the different substrates as well as their impact on cost and Quality, Automation and robotics skills and associated numeric Tools, Usage of quality equipment for paint film Quality confirmation (Levelness, color, gloss, thickness,…), Understanding and application of Explosive Atmosphere (Atex) norms, Scientific (6 Sigma, analytic methods,…) and design to cost approach
